Hollow T Classic
Swamp Ash Top on Hollow Ash Back
Translucent White

Since the beginning of time, humankind has searched for the location of paradise. But it has always been illusive. In 1864 Mark Twain believed he had found it, declaring later, “No alien land in all the world has any deep, strong charm for me but that one; no other land could so longingly and beseechingly haunt me, sleeping and waking, through half a lifetime, as that one has done. Other things leave me, but it abides; other things change, but it remains the same.” For many, including Mark Twain, the Hawaiian Islands possess allure like no other place on earth with its moderate climate, gorgeous scenery, tranquil environment and wonderful people. But as much as I hate to say it, I think Mark may have missed the very best of Hawaii.

Hawaii is the most isolated population center on the face of the earth. Living on an island, even an island paradise, you might think that there are some things that you may just have to learn to be without—like the world’s best guitars for instance. Hey, I couldn’t have used the word paradise in good conscience if it didn’t include Tom Anderson Guitars because it wouldn’t be a paradise without them.

Honolulu happens to be home to one of the world’s coolest music stores—Dan’s Guitars. And right now Dan and his staff are in possession of this—dare I say it—perfect Hollow T Classic. Dan told me that he hasn’t even hung this Translucent White masterpiece on the wall yet. He enjoys telling his customers about it and then allowing them to open the case to take a peek. The look on their faces is pure joy. I know just how they feel. When I first laid eyes on this Hollow T Classic in its completed form I was very moved by the way the Translucent White finish and Tortoise Shell pickguard united with the elegance of gold hardware—especially the gold neck pickup cover—to deliver an instrument of unparalleled vintage class. But that is only the beginning. As Dan commented when he first picked it up, “This guitar is so nice and light and loud and it plays effortlessly! The sound is a really big, full sound that still has that nice spank to it.” Todd took it a step further when he proclaimed, “This white Hollow T Classic is no ka oi.” For you to whom this phrase is new, “no ka oi” means it is the best!

There is one problem in paradise though. Dan’s also just received a Baby Blue, Classic loaded with our amazing VA vintage single coil pickups and sporting our new Aged White pickguard and Coffee Dipped pickup covers. What is the problem you ask? Which one to play first of course. Yes, these are the problems of paradise. These are the kinds of problems we all need to be faced with—problems that bring joy and fulfillment to others as well as ourselves. Music is magic!

But best of all, Dan’s Guitars is a store of really nice people that is packed full of some of the finest musical gear in the world. They bring even more bliss to what is already paradise. A big “MAHALO” to bruddah Dan and all at Dan’s Guitars! August 21, 1959 was a very good day for America.
