The Classic
Alder-for Classic
Sage Green Metallic

Due to circumstances beyond our control, please allow us to share with you this Sage Green Metallic, Classic once again. After all it’s not everyday that a color gets such high honors. Plus, if you look carefully and click the hyperlinks within the text, this one is actually 11 Guitar of the Weeks in one convenient value pack.

Have fun and happy Guitar of the Weeking.

We don’t know how you are dressed right now but it might not be a bad idea to put on your tux before reading any further. We’ll wait…

This is a rather auspicious occasion. Tonight amid the fanfare and pageantry we have gathered to induct Sage Green Metallic as an honorary member into the Rock & Roll Surf Colors Hall of Fame. Sage Green Metallic will now be in the company of such all-time great Surf finishes as, Surf Green and Candy Apple Red. Let’s not forget about Baby Blue, Fiesta Red or Seafoam Green. Inca Silver is always stunning—Shell Pink and Lake Placid Blue too. And what about Shoreline Gold and Firemist Gold or Ice Blue, not to mention Burgundy Mist or the ever-popular Silver and Gold Sparkle—and the list goes on.

We know what you are saying, “Wait a minute here! Didn’t I read in Guitar of the Week that Sage Green Metallic was an Anderson creation derived from the mystic sage-covered mountains of New Mexico?” Yes you did, and will always be distinguished as such, but due to special circumstances well beyond what anyone could have foreseen, it has now also achieved legendary Surf status.

What has catapulted this shimmery, silvery-green color to such lofty heights is none other than sanctification by the East Coast’s premier surfboard creator—Bill Frierson of Frierson Designs. He ordered this Sage Green Metallic, Classic as his personal axe. How much more surf sanctification could anyone possibly need than that? And outfitting with an Aged White Pickguard and a balanced set of VA-Series pickups encased in Coffee-Dipped covers only serves to further the cause—sonically as well as visually.

The first thing you’ll notice when climbing aboard this Sage Green, Classic is the ample handhold provided by the ‘62 Roundback neck back shape—not too big but certainly not too small. This one features a 1 11/16-inch nut-width and if there is anything to the myth that larger-neck guitars sound better, this one does nothing to dissuade that notion, as huge and girthy tones thunder forth, underpinned by a low-mid, wood-generated rumble. Just three minutes alone with this guitar and you will be under the spell of its slippery Stainless Steel frets and confidence-building playability. If you have never considered yourself anything but a slim neck player, you will be pleasantly surprised how comfy “big” can be when executed properly.

With humility and appreciation for all that the Rock & Roll Surf Colors Hall of Fame had bestowed upon us, Tom stepped to the podium to accept the prestigious award. He addressed the audience, “Yes, Anderson Guitarworks is very pleased to receive an award on behalf of this Sage Green Metallic, Classic Guitar and all the Sage Green Metallic Guitars that will now feel confident enough to follow in its footsteps. We would like to extend a very special thanks to Bill, for we know that by making this very elegant color his own, he has lent unquestionable credibility to its shimmering hues and forever etched its place into the annals of Surfdom.”
