“Great minds think alike.” We have all heard it said, but is this poetic phrase based in fact or rhetorical fluff? Proof may be found as we look back to Guitar of the Week for July 22, 2007, and then flash forward to today—similar theme, yes, but distinctively different just the same.

You see, nothing can be just exactly like anything else—especially you—as you fulfill a totally unique and perfect role just being yourself—what a gift. So, the more we uncover our true selves, the more we are in alignment with the contentment we all long for.

And if that is not enough, it gets even better as you realize that you can not only head over to your favorite Anderson Guitar Shop to get the world’s best electric guitar but you have the luxury of being able to spec your Anderson instrument just as you like it—your way—for the true you—at no extra cost.

What is your vision?

The Classic, finished in Inca Silver and outfitted with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo system and black hardware was Andy’s vision—and he got just what he wanted—with perfectly effortless playability, tremendously rich tone and resounding resonance.

This was such a magnificent piece to play. It put to rest any rumors that involve Floyd Rose-equipped guitars. Giant tone resounds from all Andersons appointed this way. Just shows what can happen when everything is in alignment. So, if your roots pull their sustenance from the ground of 80’s and early 90’s rock and you have secretly always wanted an instrument outfitted as such, you are now free and clear to drop the hammer with no regrets.

Andy’s Anderson adventure began with his teacher Sam Swank. Sam is a pro player who has supported artists such as Olivia Newton-John, Andy Timmons, Johnny Reno and the Blacktop Gypsies—just to name a few.

Here he is with the Gypsies and one of his Cobra S Specials in hand.

Andy wondered why Sam always reached for his Andersons, without fail. Sam explained the specialness of each and every Anderson guitar. But is this something you can explain—maybe yes and maybe no? Experience is the best teacher. One touch of Sam’s Anderson and Andy was captured and catapulted into another realm of guitar playing.

Passing the baton to Brian at Charley’s Guitar Shop in Dallas was the natural next move. Drawing on his vast expertise and musical gifts, Brian is unrivaled in such matters and acted as an experienced guide, leading Andy out of the proverbial jungle of option selection, across the plateau of “what do I like,” along the ridge called understanding and up to the top of the mountain, where the view is clear and fresh. Once reaching the pinnacle, Brian shared the final bit of knowledge—the secret of the M—the prowess of twin M-Series pickups located in the neck and middle positions—for bigger-than-ever-heard, hum-free single coil-type tone.

Behold, Andy’s perfect “Andy!”

Editor’s note: “Andy” is a term of endearment often used when referring to one’s revered Anderson Guitar.
