Where do I begin with Ernie, there is so much to tell.
(See what can happen sometimes when you play Anderson Guitars.)
Anyway, Ernie was born is a log cabin in the hills of…no wait…that was Abe Lincoln.
He thinks of himself as “Average Joe” or Average Ernie—a mad playing “Weekend Warrior.” Like Abe, Ernie was born, but in New York not in a log cabin in Kentucky. He, Ernie I mean, has been playing guitar for 39 years. In the 70’s he gigged with a ’57 Gold Top and a Plexi before they were considered unaffordable. Because his father was a professional musician, little Ernie grew up surrounded by amazing musicians and vintage gear—he knows good guitars.
In college Ernie says he fell into video film production and never looked back—just loves it. He does get to do the music occasionally for some film projects and plays out every chance he gets.
Ernie had this to say for himself and his Hollow Atom:
“In my business, I always try to deliver a product that is better than my clients thought possible. So, it's such a pleasure to dream up exactly what kind of guitar I want and have Tom, Roy & the Boys at Anderson build it even better than I could have ever imagined! That's reason enough to get another.”
“I just have to talk about the neck. Playing the all-Rosewood on my Hollow Atom is incredible and must be experienced to be explained. You can feel the sound flow through the neck and into your hands. You become one with it.”
“Atom’s lightweight hollow body is a pleasure to experience—even unplugged. I always listen to a guitar unplugged for quite a while before actually plugging it in. This technique never misses, you can really tell about a guitar that way. If it sounds great unplugged, it will almost always sound great through an amp. And this Hollow Atom is one of very best I have heard. It sounds huge and rings like a bell.”
“When getting a maple-topped guitar, everybody chants the mantra, ‘It's all about the top!’ So, I can't go another moment without saying how beautiful the maple top is on this Hollow Atom. The gorgeous earth-toned Tiger Eye Burst finish is amazing to gaze upon from every angle.”
“Everything about this guitar is exactly right. There are plenty of custom builders that will build you a guitar, but few can truly deliver what you really want.”
Well all right then, and thank you too Ernie. So, the question now remains, did we pay Ernie to say these wonderful things? Absolutely not—unless you count the free Anderson T-shirt that every buyer gets. Our guess is that it is just pure musical satisfaction, originating from the inner chambers of the sealed hollow body and emanating outward to the tip of the headstock and the ends of the signature dual strap buttons.
Where the heck does Ernie live anyway? Did you see the backgrounds in those pictures?
