Make no mistake about it, Eric, Doug, Gary and Robby know the nuances of Bulldog appointment and have taken it to a whole new level—known as Bulldogology—the art and science of outfitting a Bulldog.

What have they done?

But first, who are Eric, Doug, Gary and Robby, anyway?

Collectively they are Guitar Czar—the superlative Anderson Guitarworks representative in Salt Lake City, Utah. Guitar Czar has been a premier Anderson Guitar dealer for almost as long as we can remember—part of the Anderson family of excellence, for sure. We love these guys. Their name befits them.

Editors Word Definition: Czar [pronounced: zahr]
1. an emperor or king.
2. any person exercising great authority or power in a particular field: a czar of industry.

And now back to our foremost question: What have they done…with this NAMM Show Bulldog?

To start it all rolling Eric (the owner of Guitar Czar) selected a color never before seen on an Anderson Guitar—Lemon Drop. Lemon Drop is comprised of our Transparent Yellow color painted onto Bulldog’s carved maple top and then shot with the slightest hint of a darkened edge to make Lemon Drop an ever so subtle burst finish. This certainly turned heads all weekend at the 2012 NAMM Show, as vintage and distinction merge in a melodious manner.

But that is not all to the uniqueness of this Bulldog—for sure.

Ultra versatility is enhanced by the Guitar Czar-inspired pairing of PQ and HC-series pickups.

To be exact, Eric chose the revolutionary PQ1, hum-free Soapbar-style pickup, for the neck position. In this application the PQ1 flows with ethereal harmonic expressions from your favorite amp—a clarity and fatness at the same time—something a humbucker cannot capture.

Want more neck pickup magic?

Actuating the Push/Pull switch on the neck tone control knob drops the PQ to vintage single coil-level for even more sonic choices. This means, when the band calls for a different style of song there is no need to change guitars—just change your pickup setting and play on.

So cool!

At the bridge duties shift to an HC2 humbucker—with the power and flavor of the most musical over-wound vintage humbucker you have ever laid ears on—sweet, sultry tones that bloom with a gentle percussive attack without sounding the least bit “pinched.” But stand on the HC2 and it will roar with musical aggression. An amazing humbucker.

Now I know you want more bridge pickup magic, as well, so…

A pull up on the bridge tone control knob switches the HC2 to vintage single coil power, again for a greater sonic palette. It can stand alone or be combined with either power level of neck pickup for a total of 8 sonic choices and the most variety to be found anywhere from this style of instrument.

We have to pause this Bulldog fest for a moment to say, “Thank you,” to Eric and his store—the people who are Guitar Czar—for their insight and understanding of deeper aspects of Anderson appointment—for here is the only place on Earth that you can find a Bulldog so adeptly equipped.
