Together we beheld a glorious Translucent Butterscotch, Hollow T Classic and wondered why one had never before appeared on our website, since its legendary look could quite possibly represent the geniuses of the electric guitar as we know it today. A very cool axe to step on stage with—especially when it flies with flawless fluidity and emotes with a lushness of tonality befitting only an Anderson.
We were on a roll and as December 14, 2003, dawned, Trans Butterscotch crossed over to the next decade. The 60’s were a time of great transition in mind and spirit. Together once again, we learned the value of peace, love and rosewood fingerboards—and how they have sonically effected our lives.
Also, most predominate in the 60’s was a musical revolution spearheaded by the British. The term British Invasion was coined and it soon became apparent that this was something of real substance and depth influencing all mainstream music to follow. The results were musically astounding; the effects of which can still be strongly felt today as valuable British contributions continue to influence almost everything we hear.
Well, our friends of the United Kingdom have done it again. The Brits have uncovered another, equally elegant, means of expressing the highly valued vintage vibe. Opting for this British-bound Hollow T Classic to be finished in Transparent Yellow allows for the alder body’s naturally tannish hue to participate with a depth of character that is directly related to all that is a veneration of vintage majesty. In other words…it’s very cool!
But having done so, they have also unknowingly initiated a parliamentary-style debate surrounding these two fine vintage flavors as to which is the more fitting finish. (They talk like that in England you know.)
Perhaps, the only way to settle this is with another Anderson Guitar of the Week vote? All right then, let’s do it! We will post the results in a few weeks.
Please take your time and examine both shades with meticulous care. When you are sure you have decided on the one you would fancy to be holding as the spotlight shines down upon you, select one of the three statements below that most accurately reflects your true feelings (or make up a short one of your own) and e-mail us at: royataguitars@earthlink.net. We’d love to hear from you.
Statements to e-mail:
1. Translucent Butterscotch rules!
2. Transparent Yellow is the real deal!
3. They are both wonderful and I would love to play either or better yet both!
